Q.
I was taught the following sequence of applying makeup :
Step
1: Apply a moisturizing makeup base
Step 2: Apply cream foundation
Step 3: Apply creamy eye-shadow, rouge
Step 4: Apply face powder
Step 5: Apply powder eye-shadow, powder blusher, liquid eye-liner
or eye-pencil, mascara, lip-liner, draw eye-brow with eye-pencil
Step 6: Apply lip color
Must I adhere strictly to these steps and sequence?
A. NO. It depends greatly on the product texture and post-application
effect of each makeup product. For example, if following the above
steps results in a greasy condition and your makeup won't stay, then
you can try omitting the moisturizing makeup base, or change to a
less oily moisturizing makeup base. (By the way, any good moisturizer
can be used as a makeup base) If this still doesn't improve, then
change to another less oily cream foundation or change to a cake foundation,
or even omit the foundation totally, until you see an improvement.
If further oil control is needed, apply more face powder. Better still,
apply Dr. Pierre Xtra-fine Face Powder which is formulated to help
calm your oil glands. The rest of the steps can be adhered to.
On the other hand, if following the above steps results in a dry/dehydrated condition, then select one of Dr. Pierre's Creams with powerful hydrating properties as the makeup base - #86, 89, 99 (or #84, 87, 95RF); as well Dr. Pierre's Herbal Active Anti-UV Day Creams #70, 74-P, 76-P, 79-P or 076 and Dr. Pierre's Herbal Fair Creams #98 or 98W. If you have acne, don't fret. Dr. Pierre's #90-O or 90L will be perfect for use as makeup foundation while keeping your acne under control. The rest of the steps can remain.
Q.
I have clogged pores and I was told that makeup products will worsen
my condition. Is this true?
A. Yes, if you don't have good and effective cleansers to remove daily
stale makeup and debris. Even men who do not wear makeup, still get
their pores clogged if improper and ineffective cleansers are used,
and debris are left to accumulate over time.

to you, do not worry. Go ahead with your daily makeup application
and have them effectively removed nightly with one of Dr.

Can I apply face powder in any sequence I wish?
A. NO. Face Powder must be applied only after all creamy makeup items
have been applied. Reason: Being powdery in texture it is supposed
to do the job of setting all the creamy stuff on the skin. If it is
applied before any creamy makeup item, then the powdered area will
be messed up by the creamy content, and will appear awful, requiring
another layer of powder to set it and yet will still not look good.
